In 1982, Steve Way sold his first cartoon to Punch. It was a drawing of two skulls talking, with one saying to the other, 'I miss standing for the national anthem'. The second cartoon he sold them was also of two skulls. The caption was, 'I never liked his interpretation of Yorick'. That was three years later. Since then, Steve's work has appeared internationally in magazines and newspapers including Private Eye, The New Yorker and The Guardian. He was sports cartoonist for The Financial Times. Steve has twice been Cartoon Editor of Punch. He was Cartoon Editor of Maxim (UK) and is currently Cartoon Coordinator of Readers Digest (UK). In 1992 he launched and edited The Cartoonist, a weekly national broadsheet, with the design group Newell and Sorrell. Steve has produced a number of cartoon strips, including Generation Y (with Tony Reeve) for The Independent newspaper: Alastair (with Jonatahn Pugh) in The Times, and Off Our Trolley (with Tony Reeve) for Private Eye. Among other current projects, Steve is a regular
contributor to The Oldie. He is based in London and Munich, Germany.
He keeps a visual diary and is still waiting for his Vogue moment.
